Arve Føyen is a partner in the law firm FØYEN Advokatfirma DA where he is heading the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology Practice Group. He has wide knowledge of and experience in computer and information technology law including data protection and the internet.
Mr. Foyen has substantial experience with regulatory issues regarding broadband and contracts relating to satellite broadcasting, leasing of transponder capacity, EU directives and international conventions in these fields, as well as national and international legal issues relating to the deregulation of the telecommunications industry.
Mr. Foyen was responsible for the development and use of the Government Standard form contract for procurement of computers from 1974 to 1979. Thereafter he served as the Deputy Director in the Norwegian Data Protection Authority from 1979 to 1982, and reviewed the Data Registers Act in 1983 on assignment by the Ministry of Justice. He was in 2012 re-appointed by the Parliament to the Data Protection Appeals Board as Deputy Chairman for another period of 4 years.
